Secrets of the Monkey God

There are thousands of Hindu religious books; scriptures, the books of the ancient and modern saints, books by the great devotees and philosophers. In addition, there are innumerable poetry and prayers of the different Gods, written by the saints in Sanskrit or their regional language. There are also prose and prayers written by uneducated village devotees in their own language (dialect). Not a single book depicts 100% of Hinduism, nor any single book is recommended to all Hindus to read and worship daily. Hindus are democratically given liberty to choose a holy book for the individual purpose. Most liked Hindu God Lord Krishna has Himself advised to go beyond the books to understand God. Upanishada (The knowledge part of the Veda) say that the speech (the words) come back (becomes unable) along with the searching mind; (when one tries to describe God). This means God is beyond words. Words have limited meaning, scope, strength and jurisdiction or explaining power; hence words can’t reach up to God. God is infinite. The books which are necessarily and merely the words are purely human imaginations. No holy book in the world irrespective of its belonging to any sect or religion can take a devotee to God. This is evident from the experience. Billions of people are praying God and reading holy books or even living as per guidance of holy books since thousands of years. How many of them have understood God or seen God? The meaning of Hinduism is search into the knowledge of God that ends in self realization. It is not an organized movement of people under the name of God headed by religion makers, their disciples, followers and priests having holy books fitted in their heads in such a way that there would not be space available for free thinking of God. Adwaitism is finer and has the greater value than the monotheism. Adwaitism gives right to people to choose a form of God which they like most, though there is only one God incarnated in many names and forms. For example, the women like God to be a woman. Why should she worship a masculine God? There are instances that the women could not concentrate on God because God was supposed to be masculine. Adwaitism, has given a right to women to worship God in the woman form if they so desire. Worshiping favorite form gives more happiness and nearness to God is the experience of the people in the world.

Hanuman or the Monkey God is the form of God that was extremely popular in Asia and all the Eastern countries, and still it is being worshipped in many countries. There are many stories attached to the birth, bring up, youth and finally as a messenger of God Prabhu Ramchandra , published in millions of books. The author does not think it possible to give all the stories of Hanuman in this small article. Further, the Guru of the author has taught him that stories of God, depicting God or personifying God like God walked, God spoke, God ordered, God had given commandments, God advised, God asked, God did, God created etc. are the stories for strengthening faith and devotion, not for the knowledge of God or attaining God. However, the readers who are interested in knowing more about Monkey God in details may kindly visit the following pages, where lot of information is available.

The author’s view is to disclose more details here for the information of the devotees and admirers of the Monkey God. Identity of the Monkey God is traditionally passed by Guru to his most liked disciple who then becomes Guru himself. Those secrets could not be disclosed by any Guru anywhere. The intention of the author is to explain as to how the animal monkey was selected by the ancient seers to represent God. In India a few more animals are personified. Among them most popular is the Elephant God, Ganesh. Ganesh idols were found in the archeological excavation in many countries, substantiating that the God was popular not only in India but in so many other countries. Ganesh with the elephant head is supposed to be the God of intelligence. Narsimha is the Hindu God with the lion head. Narsimha killed the mighty demon Hiranykashyapu is the story in old scriptures. Narsimha God is comparatively less popular than Hanuman and Ganesh. All these animal Gods have heads of the animals and the human body from the neck down up to feet. This indicates that what differentiates human from the animal is the head; the activities of the lower parts are almost same.

Almost all Hindu Gods have weapons in their hands and stories depict that they killed the demons. Demons represented the bad thoughts called bad “Vritti”. Though in Indian mythological pictures the demons are illustrated with big teeth, nails and big bodies, never such a big size people were in existence. Demons were often named after the bad qualities of the human being, like Mhaisasur demon represented idleness and lack of intelligence, Narkasur was a demon who represents the tendency of making the house and public area dirty, Bakasur was a demon eating too much and talking nonsense continuously etc. The demons were killing the gentle and god fearing public in almost each and every story.
